Our Farm

We are a market garden farm where we grow heritage vegetables. We are specializing in Heirloom Tomatoes growing over 200 varieties. We are certified organic under the Canadian Organic Standard.

2010 CSA Program

This season Wicklow Way Farm will be offering a 16- week CSA program that will deliver you a weekly box of our lovely vegetables. There will be four pick up locations, one at the farm, one in Port Hope and two in Toronto: one at the Guildwood Village Farmers Market and the other at dish cooking studio (Dupont between Bathurst and Spadina).

Plant Sale

We open the 2010 season with our annual heirloom plant sale. Nothing can be more "local" than growing your own produce. This is a very exciting time of year when knowledgeable and aspiring gardeners gear up for another season of sunshine and satisfaction.

Workshops

This season we are planning a number of workshops for interested parties that reflect the Wicklow Way. We're planning food-focused events along with practical garden skills. These will occur once a month throughout the season.

The Bee Project

Working with our Bee Mentor, Brian Hamlin, we are practicing bee-appropriate care which includes NO chemical treatments, top bar hives, and different hive designs, including the octagonal Wicklow Hive.

The Apple Project

It is not as if we didn't have enough to do. However, we were excited by the opportunity to rehabilitate our friends apple orchard and manage it organically. We're starting off with 40 of the trees, cleaning around and pruning them. This is a 2 to 3 year project. Stay tuned ...

 

Our Interns & Bob

This year we have help on our farm as we have expanded to three acres under cultivation. We have two interns, Jody and Tiffany, and Bob, our friend and farm mentor, helping out.
